PAUL James has been crowned Molten BBL Coach of the Month for March after Worcester Wolves delivered the only unbeaten record of any club during the period.

He also presided over more wins than any of his peers as Wolves took five victories in as many games to establish themselves as the form team in the British Basketball League.

They did it in style too, taking the major scalps of both leaders Leicester Riders as well as second-placed Newcastle Eagles.

Wolves player Trevor Setty described James as a "wizard" for masterminding Wolves' sparking form after a sorry start to the season.

“PJ is the wizard,” Setty said.

“He has stuck by us when we were losing. He didn’t listen to the people who were telling him to blow it up.

"He stood by us and fought for us.

"We have had our skirmishes but he has brought the best out of me so I am happy to be playing for him.”

Opening the month with a pair of one-sided wins against Leeds Force, James’ side beat Riders 93-91 in one of the most memorable games of the season so far. The result ended their opponent’s record-breaking 16-game winning streak.

Cheshire Phoenix were next on the hit-list as Worcester took a 103-91 win on the road in overtime to make it 4-0.

And arguably saving the best until last, they wrapped up March by taking their biggest ever win against the Eagles with an offensive deluge.

That paved the way for a vibrant and memorable 126-97 win at the University of Worcester Arena.

James had to fight off stiff competition from BBL Trophy winner Rob Paternostro of Leicester Riders and Creon Raftopoulos of Surrey Scorchers who won four of their five outings.

It is the second time James has won the top prize this season having claimed it in January.
