WORCESTER Wolves have got “all the tools” to cause “red-hot” Leicester Riders problems tomorrow night (7.30pm), according to head coach Paul James.

Leicester are flying high at the top of the British Basketball League and were crowned BBL Trophy champions last week.

But they face a Wolves side at the University of Worcester Arena who are high in confidence having won 10 out of their last 12 matches.

James says he is relishing the prospect of unleashing his in-form team against Riders who are on an 11-match victorious streak in the league.

“You have got to love being involved in these sorts of games,” he said.

“Leicester are a red-hot team right now. They haven’t lost for a long period of time.

“We are playing well so we are probably the two form teams in the league going head-to-head. It should make for a very exciting game.”

Sixth-placed Worcester are also looking to extend their run to six successive league wins.

With both teams in a rich vein of form James believes it will come down to who “makes the least mistakes”.

“Teams know they have to prepare properly for us now as we have got all the tools and have been playing really well,” James continued.

“I think we are going to cause them as many problems as they cause us and that is the intriguing thing about this game.

“We have probably got the most dominant big man in the league in Mo Walker. They have probably got the most dominant power forward in the league in Taylor King so there are some interesting match-ups.

“It is going to come down to whoever makes the least mistakes during this game and whoever wins the battle of the rebounding especially.

“But we are really excited as it is a chance for us to go up against the best team in the league.”

Wolves lost 77-66 in September and James reckons Leicester will have a “point to prove” against his team.

“Leicester have been a very consistent team over the last few years,” James said.

“They have just retained the BBL Trophy so they will be coming here with a lot of confidence.

“We have not played them since the second weekend of the season so they will have a point to prove as well because they have not seen us and we have not seen them since then.

“They have beaten everyone else before them during that period so we are the one team they need to show who they say they are.

“But likewise we have been getting better and better every game, we have knocked some good teams off especially at home, so hopefully we can get the game-plan right, are solid defensively and shoot the ball well.”

Ashton Khan picked up an ankle injury in a university game but James expects the point guard to play.

“He is not going to be 100 per cent but is going to be about 90 or 95 per cent fit so he will be good to go,” James added.
