THE MATURITY of Worcester Wolves’ players has grown over the course of the season, according to head coach Paul James.

Worcester got off to a disappointing start this term, losing seven of their first 10 games in all competitions.

However, James believes his side have “come a long way” since then, insisting they are a “totally different team” as they continue to establish themselves in the top eight.

Wolves claimed a fourth win on the spin in British Basketball League when they hammered Leeds Force at the University of Worcester Arena last Friday.

“We are in good form so I am really happy with where we are at this moment in time,” he said.

“We have come a long way from where we were at the start of the season. We are a totally different team.

“We are more mature, the work ethic better and the players understand what each other can do so we are getting the best out of the individuals now and everyone is contributing.”

Wolves have also improved their home form, securing six straight wins at the arena since the turn of the year.

And James says Worcester’s fans have been key to their upturn in form.

“We have done great at home whereas before Christmas we could not win a game at the arena,” he said.

“I think our supporters have started to come out, fill the stands and really got behind the team.

“In the game against Plymouth Raiders (in the BBL Trophy) there was a fantastic atmosphere and that all helps to spur the team on. The louder they are the more the players will give and hopefully that will continue for our remaining four home games of the regular season.”
