ROSS Whiteley scored his second century of the season and all-rounder George Rhodes shone as Worcestershire won by 91 runs in the Second XI Trophy encounter with Derbyshire at Alvaston and Boulton.

It clinched back-to-back victories for coach Alex Gidman’s side after the success over Warwickshire in the Trophy opener at Blackfinch New Road on Tuesday.

Whiteley had hit an unbeaten 196 in the drawn three-day friendly with Somerset at Taunton Vale.

He followed that up by smashing 116 not out off 88 balls after the County were put into bat.

Whiteley hit seven sixes and six fours in a total of 276-6 from 50 overs and Josh Dell added 32.

Opener Rhodes scored 87 from 115 balls with seven boundaries and followed that up by returning 4-37 as Derbyshire were bowled out for 185 in 42.5 overs.

He took the last three wickets in eight balls while Matt Davis claimed 2-19 and Zen Malik 2-40.
