DARYL Mitchell will again play Birmingham League cricket for Brockhampton this summer in the hope of instigating a quickfire return to the Premier Division.

The prolific Worcestershire opener, 34, played for Brockhampton when county commitments allowed and in one game hit 194 against Dorridge (pictured) but could not prevent relegation.

But Mitchell is happy to return for 2018.

“It was the first time I’ve played league cricket consistently for seven, eight, maybe nine years," said Mitchell.

“I really enjoyed it. It’s a great club, a great place to play your cricket and took me back to my roots.

“I love the ground, it is a good wicket to bat on which as a professional batter I guess is important if you are going to try and get back into a bit of nick or score some runs on a Saturday.

“It was a fantastic surface and a great set of lads, even if the results weren’t as good as we would have liked.

“I’ll be back there this year and hopefully vying for promotion with them.”
