WORCESTER Warriors star Josh Adams has been shortlisted for the Rugby Players' Association's young player of the year award.

The 23-year-old wing will be up against Gloucester's Jake Polledri, Exeter Chiefs' Sam Simmonds, Harlequins' Marcus Smith and Wasps' Jack Willis for the top prize.

The Sanlam Young Player of the Year Award recognises the outstanding young player of the domestic season, as voted by the players.

Nominees must be 23 years or younger at the start of the season.

The trophy is named after Harlequins and England scrum-half Nick Duncombe, who died tragically in 2003 from a rare form of blood poisoning, aged just 21.

The winner will be announced at the RPA players' awards dinner on Wednesday, May 9.

Adams has scored 17 tries in 24 appearances for Warriors this season and made his debut for Wales during this year's Six Nations.

“This is a big honour for me," said Adams on being nominated for the award.

"I am extremely delighted and definitely didn’t expect this recognition from my peers.

"It’s been an amazing season and I have been working really hard to improve my game.

"A big thanks to everyone who voted for me, it means a huge amount.”
