WORCESTER Warriors are set to bolster their front row options for next season with the signing of a “project” tighthead prop.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons confirmed his efforts to bring in a fourth player to compete for the number three jersey at a question and answer session with season ticket holders earlier this week.

Nick Schonert has been Solomons’ first-choice tighthead when he has been fit while Gareth Milasinovich and Simon Kerrod have provided competition.

But with powerhouse prop Biyi Alo agreeing to move to French side Soyaux Angouleme in the summer Solomons is looking to add a new face to the pack.

Warriors Tweeted the South African’s comments from the ‘An Evening with Alan Solomons’ event at Sixways on Monday night.

"Nick Schonert's playing the best rugby of his career,” Solomons said.

“Simon Kerrod and Gareth Milasinovich are building under Mefin Davies who's doing a great job.

“We’ll be bringing in a project fourth player to come in while we have Joe Morris in the academy too."

Speaking at this week's press conference Solomons added he was hoping to announce the signing of the new tighthead before the end of the campaign.

Asked whether he was able to provide more information about the mystery player, Solomons replied: “Not at this point but we will do in due course, like we do with all our new signings.

“Once everything is wrapped up and buttoned up of course we will make an announcement.

“Hopefully that’ll be sooner rather than later as we are coming to the end of the season.”
