WING Josh Adams is understood to be staying put at Worcester Warriors despite rumours claiming he is close to joining Dragons.

According to Wales Online, the Pro14 outfit are in advanced talks with Warriors and Adams in a bid to sign the Wales international ahead of next season.

But a source close to the club told the Worcester News the 22-year-old, who has another year left on his contract at Warriors, was going nowhere.

Dragons have already recruited Gloucester duo Ross Moriarty and Richard Hibbard ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

And head coach Bernard Jackman fuelled speculation over a possible move for Adams when he said he hoped one of his signings would “cause a stir”.

"It (recruitment) is going well and hopefully next week we will have at least one announcement and over the next couple of weeks I would like to think we will have two or three more,” Jackman said.

"Hopefully one will cause quite a stir."

Adams joined Warriors’ academy in 2015 from Scarlets before bursting onto the scene last term, crossing the whitewash on 13 occasions.

The in-form back now sits at the top of Aviva Premiership’s try-scoring charts with 10 in 15 games and made his Wales debut earlier this month.

He featured in their 34-7 win over Scotland at the Principality Stadium before starting in their 12-6 defeat to England at Twickenham.

Under the new 60-cap rule brought in by the WRU, Adams will need to move to a Welsh region when his current deal runs out in the summer of 2019 if he wants to keep his international ambitions alive.

But Wales Online claimed Dragons were looking to add Adams, who has scored 14 tries in 19 games for Warriors this term, to their side in the summer.

The report also suggested Warriors would command some sort of fee to release Adams from his contract a year early.

However, director of rugby Alan Solomons is expected to rubbish the rumours when he speaks to the media this afternoon.

According to reports in South Africa, Warriors are poised to announce the signing of Cheetahs captain and Springbok centre Francois Venter.

The 26-year-old, who has earned seven caps for South Africa, is understood to have penned a deal at Sixways and would join up with current Cheetahs boss Rory Duncan who has agreed to succeed Carl Hogg as Warriors’ head coach.
