BOSS Gary Gold has set his sights on “leaving a milestone” for Worcester Warriors as he bids to register an historic win at Leicester Tigers tomorrow (3pm).

Worcester have never beaten Leicester at Welford Road and Gold conceded facing the 10-time English champions on their home patch was the “ultimate test in rugby”.

But the 50-year-old has experienced winning at Tigers and is determined to guide Warriors to victory.

“I like stats like that,” said Gold on Warriors’ long winless record at Leicester.

“There is always something you can look to change so it’s an exciting new challenge to be able to make history. It’s always fun to do that.

“You want to be leaving milestones and right the wrongs.

“I have been involved in a couple of wins at Welford Road over my time with London Irish and Bath and it is satisfying when you do go there and win.

“But it’s not easy a place to go as I have been on the end of some hidings there as well.

“It’s a wonderful venue.

“Although they’ve got a new stand it’s quite a traditional old ground. They have gnarly old supporters who quite volatile so you go there knowing it is the ultimate test in rugby. But that’s why we play the game.”
