CENTRE Ben Te’o is poised to return to action as Worcester Warriors look to field a full-strength side against Munster on Thursday (7.30pm).

The England ace arrived at Warriors on Monday for his first training session following his extended break.

But head coach Carl Hogg said he was keen to get Te’o on the pitch as Warriors aim to crank up their preparations ahead of the new Aviva Premiership season.

The 30-year-old was part of the British and Irish Lions side who claimed a 1-1 series draw with New Zealand early last month.

“It will be great to have Ben back,” Hogg said.

“Obviously he has been away with the Lions and he has had an extended period of rest, so we will see what sort of condition he comes back in and see how he travels in the next couple of days.”

Donncha O’Callaghan is also expected to come up against his former club where he made more than 270 appearances over 17 seasons.

The veteran lock is among a number of players who did not feature in Warriors’ shock 24-15 defeat at Birmingham Moseley that are likely to return.

Second-row Pierce Phillips, centres Wynand Olivier and Jackson Willison, wing Bryce Heem and hooker Joe Taufete’e were among those who were not selected.

Warriors have also confirmed lock Will Spencer, scrum-half Michael Dowsett and number eight Alafoti Fa'osiliva have been in training and could be in line to make their first appearances of pre-season.

Tighthead prop Gareth Milasinovich who has been recovering from a hamstring problem is due to be back available.

But Worcester will be without several players who are nursing injuries and are batting to be fit for the start of the campaign.

Hogg admitted the side who faced the Guinness PRO12 outfit would “look like” the team that would take on Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park in their season opener on Friday, September 1.

“We will (go full strength),” Hogg said.

“We held one or two back against Hartpury and certainly last weekend with a view to the Munster game.

“The side will be more towards what it will look like for the first game against Newcastle, so some of the more senior players will come back in.”
