STALWART scrum-half Jonny Arr has been awarded a testimonial season by Worcester Warriors.

The 28-year-old has played more times for Warriors than any other member of the current Sixways squad.

Worcester-born Arr has 188 first-team appearances under his belt for Warriors, including 99 in the Aviva Premiership.

Arr said: "I am humbled by the opportunity to have a testimonial season at my home-town club.

"I have been involved with Warriors since I started playing rugby at the age of seven years old.

“I am fortunate enough to have made a career in the game at a club which means an awful lot to me.

"The fans have got behind me since day one and I am hugely grateful for their support over the years.

"I am immensely excited about my testimonial season and hopefully it will be one to remember both on and off the pitch."

The former Royal Grammar School pupil made his first-team debut against London Irish in December 2007.

He was instrumental in Warriors' Championship promotion campaigns in 2010/11 and 2014/2015.

He was part of the England Under 20s side who won the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2008.

He has picked up the club's young player of the year award, most improved player and player of the year honours during his time at Sixways.

Warriors head coach Carl Hogg said: "Jonny epitomises the core values of this great game of rugby.

“His level of passion and commitment to the game, his team-mates and the club is exceptional.

"He has been an outstanding character and player for the club for more than a decade.

"He is a true Warrior in every sense of the word. We are delighted to be able to recognise his contribution to the sport and the club with a testimonial season.”

Arr’s testimonial season will kick off with a Lions Brunch at Sixways on July 1.

A host of Warriors stars will be at the brunch.

The event will include pre and post-match analysis of the Lions' second Test against New Zealand, a question and answer session and a chance to mingle with first-team players.

Warriors will host a number of other events to honour Arr throughout the season.

The events will also be used to raise funds for the Warriors Community Foundation and Restart Rugby.

Hogg added: "I'm sure Jonny's testimonial events will prove to be a huge success over the coming season and Warriors fans will support these functions as they have support this talented and popular player throughout the last 10 years."
