ANDY Longley has warned his in-form Malvern side against complacency as they host Longton tomorrow in National Three Midlands (ko 3pm).

The director of rugby has seen his side go third in the table on 13 points following three wins from their opening three games.

Their latest victory came when the Spring Lane side gained their first-ever win over Old Northamptonians with an 18-16 triumph, to continue what Longley describes as their “positive” start.

Despite this encouraging 100 per cent start, Longley has urged his men not to get over-confident with the visit of the Potteries outfirt tomorrow.

Tight-head prop John Clark is unavailable with Joe Baker replacing him.

Robin Fransson moves to the wing, as Luke Milton takes his place at full-back. Simon Daws replaces Rory Gratwohl at back row.

An ex-players’ lunch will be held at Spring Lane before the Longton clash from 12.30pm.

Longley said: “Longton will be a hard game for us.

“Their team is very familar to us and experienced. They will come to Malvern looking to knock us off our unbeaten run.

“We’re trying to be in the top four by Christmas. It’s been a positive start for us.

“We’ve got to make sure we concentrate all of our focus on the next game. We’ve got to take confidence from our start but not get complacent. We can’t afford to be over-confident. We’re moving in the right direction.”

n Malvern’s development squad were left red-faced after running out at the wrong ground.

Malvern’s second string were scheduled to face Cheltenham seconds on Saturday.

However, the squad, led by team manager Marc Gaubert, travelled to Cheltenham North by mistake.

They only realised their error after getting changed and going out onto the pitch where they were informed and redirected by their bemused opponents.

They eventually found the right ground and played the friendly clash.

This should not be a problem tomorrow, however, as Malvern host Bromsgrove (ko 3pm). They actually travel to Cheltenham North on October 1.
