MALVERN Rugby Club’s promising young players picked up prizes at the end-of-season awards.

Along with the awards for each of the age groups, which covered player of the year, most improved player and a coaches honour, there was a lot more on offer for families.

They got to take part in tag rugby, tug of war, kicking and passing games as well as try out the bouncy castles, a rodeo scrum ball and enjoy a hog roast.

Malvern’s youth chair Neil Palmer said: “The day was a huge success and great fun for all the players, families and friends of Malvern.

“We are very proud of our mini & juniors section, which has continued to go from strength to strength this season and Sunday was a real celebration for all the players and their families.

“We’ve had a fantastic season, there is a real appetite for rugby across the town. Every week more and more children are coming to Malvern RFC to learn how to play rugby and make new friends.

“We now have nearly 230 junior members, representing under sevens to Colts (U18s) and it was great that so many people joined us for the day.

“Malvern RFC is a real community rugby club, with everyone getting involved to make it a success.

“We now take a break for a few months, although we are excited to be holding a summer rugby camp in late July, before we all comeback again for pre season training on Sunday September 3 to start preparations for the new season.”
