WORCESTER Warriors are going all out in their bid to make the attendance for next Saturday’s Sixways showdown against Bristol the largest in the Championship this season.

More than 8,500 tickets have already been sold for the clash, which is set to determine who will finish top of the table heading into the all-important play-offs.

Chief executive Jim O’Toole reckons Warriors are on track to break the 10,000 barrier and could even better the 10,701 that watched Bristol beat Plymouth Albion at Ashton Gate on New Year’s Day.

“At the moment we are at 8,500 so we are heading in the right direction,” said the Sixways chief, who revealed 10 per cent of sales have been to Bristol fans.

“I think we’ll get 10,000 definitely because we traditionally sell a lot of tickets in the last week.

“We would like to give the record a good bash and there are a number of initiatives over the next few days that will focus people’s attention.

“It still matters, it’s a hugely important game because of the choice of the order in the play-off final because the highest-placed team gets to choose.”

Warriors, who lost at Bristol on the opening day of the campaign, are three points behind their West Country rivals with two games to go, the first of which is the long trip to Cornish Pirates today (3pm).
