WARRIORS director of rugby Dean Ryan was frustrated his side weren’t clinical enough in the second-half of their 49-10 victory against Rotherham Titans.

Worcester opened up a 28-3 advantage at the interval and Ryan admitted the display had been “a mixed bag”.

“We are a little bit frustrated that we never really got clinical in the second-half and it got a bit bitty,” said Ryan.

“I think I probably contributed to that by pushing on the bench quite early and we lost rhythm off the scrum and it was quite difficult to get it back.

“We had some really sharp stuff and we’re looking really threatening and lively in attack and look like scoring at will.

“That’s the mixed bag – a bit of frustration that it’s not there all the time and really pleasing that we see things that really excite us.”

Ryan was pleased with the work-rate and effort from his backline, notably Max Stelling, Ben Howard and Andy Symons.

“We looked threatening on the outside edge with Stelling and Howard,” said Ryan.

“The work of Symons, who is holding and colliding with people, is allowing Stelling and Howard an extra yard on the outside. If you give them half-a-yard on the outside they get past you.

“It looks really easy but there are little bits which make it up. I am very pleased with Sam Vesty because he’s come in and worked on the little things which make up the bigger picture.

“You can see Howard running down the outside but we can’t underestimate the work of Symons.”

He added: “Without sounding arrogant there are games in this Championship that we should win. Let’s not take the win as the measure of it and let’s measure ourselves in a slightly different way. The players are frustrated because they want to perform and get it right and understand the reasons why we didn’t get the perfor - mance which we are after.

“We are capable of it and finished the first-half flying and we were really frus - trated when the 15-minute interval got in the way.”

The Warriors chief, however, was disappointed with some of their discipline which led to Rotherham’s late try.

“When games get bitty you end up with a discipline issue and suddenly you’re end up on your own five-metre line and conceding a try. Clean sheets are what our defence coach Simon Cross is about and to concede how we did is something which is a real worry.”

Rotherham head coach Lee Blackett said the match got away from his side in the middle period of the first-half.

“We were in control for the first 15 minutes and exited really well and kept to our structures,” he said.

“Unfortunately, we made a couple of re - ally bad decisions and, before we knew it, we were 28-3 behind and you are then going to struggle against a top-quality side.

“When we exited well and our kick-chase was good we did really well and our maul defence and maul attack were good. The big difference was Worcester’s physicality.”
