WARRIORS director of rugby Dean Ryan says his side’s opening burst set the tone for their comprehensive 50-10 victory at Moseley.

“We knew we had to get off to a fast start and we were pretty sharp and, after the first 20 to 30 minutes the game was over,” he said.

“The second-half was tough with the windy conditions and playing up the hill but I thought it was a job well done.

“Andy Symons looked sharp again and Ben Howard came on to the wing and looked sharp.

“I liked the look of Millsy (Ryan Mills) – it puts some competition at 10.

“We have got some good players jumping around at the moment. We used our drive and it was powerful and everything we wanted.

“Andy Symons kicked well and it’s about having options.

“The nature of the competition means that everything gets scrutinised at the end of the season.

“You have to make sure you know what your options are because it only takes one injury and everything changes.

“We are just building content within the side and we’re pretty happy with the group and they are learning a lot, they are learning a lot about each other and we are having to problem solve.”

Ryan added: “There were issues at the set piece again and we had to solve but we are miles on from where we were five or six weeks ago when all we were doing was throwing our hands up in the air. We have got some answers now and we are just moving on with the game.”

Ryan admitted he was still frustrated with the inconsistent refereeing decisions but felt it should not overshadow some excellent individual performances.

“Every time the two sides come together there was an offence,” he said.

“It was very difficult to get continuity.

“Some of those offences were not offences and some of them should have been. It’s very difficult to get successive phases and we had to work out how we can be accurate.”

“I don’t think a huge amount of the decisions were particularly accurate but what do we want the headline to be about? A referee when we have won 50 points to 10?

Not really.

“I think we have proven from week to week that the level of consistency hasn’t been great so we just need to problem solve and move on.

“If we win by 50 points to 10 I want the headlines to be about Andy Symons and Ryan Mills not about the referee.”

Moseley head coach Kevin Maggs said it had been a tough afternoon for the hosts.

“At times we were in the game but we had far too many turnovers and we could not win our own line-out ball and we struggled in possession,” he said.

Maggs added: “I think Worcester were cynical in terms of slowing down our ball.

“When you look at the penalty count it was 24 against Worcester and 15 against us. They could easily have had one or two other yellow cards but the bigger teams get away with a lot more.”
