LEDBURY Rugby Club coach Ben Smith says his young guns stepped up to the plate after recording a 19-0 home win against Old Wheatleyans in Midlands Three West (South).
The Herefordshire outfit are seventh in the table and travel to eighth-placed Shipston-on-Stour for another league clash tomorrow.
“We are looking forward to the challenge which Shipston are going to present us,” said Smith.
“Shipston have some big forwards which we will need to match and we will need to stick to our game-plan. It would be good to finish off the month unbeaten in December.
“Our main focus will be after Christmas because that was when we slipped up in the league last season. I think the team is starting to show their good qualities and the young players are stepping up.”
Smith added: “We gave a really good performance last Saturday with some solid defending and it was great to achieve back-to-back wins with no points conceded.”
George Bennion kicked five penalties for Ledbury, who led 3-0 at the interval against Old Wheatleyans.
Gary Nicholson scored Ledbury’s try.
