BROMYARD beat mid-table rivals Telford Hornets 26-15 in Midlands Four West (North).

Tries from forwards Jamie Williams and Scott Holloway saw Bromyard lead 14-5 by the break.

Telford, fired up by a stern half-time talk, responded immediately with two quick tries to go ahead.

Not to be outdone by their impressive forwards, Bromyard backs Tom Morris and Pat Hill crossed the line to earn a hard-earned victory for the home team.

Chris Rowberry kicked the rest of the points.

Fifth-placed Bromyard moved five points clear of Hornets and visit fourth-from-bottom Yardley and District tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Upton crashed 68-5 at Bedworth in Midlands Three West (South) to drop to 10th in the 12-team leaguetable.

The Old Street side were well beaten by their Warwickshire hosts, who are mounting a promotion challenge in third spot.

The games do not get any easier for Upton, who entertain second-placed Dunlop tomorrow.

Newent are one point behind leaders Coney Hill at the top of Tribute Western Counties North but the Gloucester side have a game in hand.

A close 13-7 success at fifth-placed Bristol Harlequins ensured promoted Newent have won 12 of their first 13 league fixtures.

Tomorrow (2.15pm), they host lowly Burnham-on-Sea who lost 43-16 at home to Coney Hill last weekend.
