WORCESTER Warriors are being pitched with Premiership Harlequins for a top national honour.

Warriors have been shortlisted for the Institute of Groundsmanship Professional Rugby Union Grounds Team of the Year Award.

Martin Knight and Stuart Lambert are the two-man team at Sixways and maintain a total of 50 acres.

Warriors and Quins’ Twickenham Stoop will be judged by industry experts and the winners will be announced in Milton Keynes on Thursday, December 4.

The Institute of Groundsmanship Industry Awards recognise the quality of sports facilities and are held in partnership with the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association.

Knight said: “I’m delighted we’re up for this award because we take a lot of pride in how the pitch looks. It’s great that we are recognised for the work we are doing.”

In addition to the Warriors’ stadium and training pitches, there are six senior and 13 junior pitches of varying size plus an indoor third- generation synthetic surface training area.
