LEDBURY Rugby Club were edged out 33-30 by high-flying Dunlop in Midlands Three West (South).

Their hunt for a first away win of the season did not start well after arriving late in Coventry.

Ledbury played with the wind in the first-half but Dunlop scored an early converted try.

George Bennion kicked well and the visitors set up a maul from the line-out with number eight and man-of-the-match Gary Nicholson crashing over.

Bennion converted and kicked two penalties but they sandwiched a Dunlop converted try.

Ledbury played into the wind in the second-half and the hosts forced another touchdown.

However, the Ross Road side fought back again with centre Chris Stokes setting up Bennion for an unconverted effort.

Ledbury shipped a fourth try only to reply again when winger Matt Hallett sped over.

Bennion missed the conversion before another Dunlop try stretched their lead to 33-23.

But Stokes’ converted try left Ledbury close at the end.

The thirds beat Clee Hill seconds 33-14 with tries from Luke Cruise (2), Dale Brown, Nolan Stevens and Elwyn Powell.

But scrum-half Mark Cox suffered a broken tibia and fibula.
