UPTON crashed 54-19 at Midland Three West (South) title-favourites Dunlop.

With Oli Jones, Chris O’Neil and Alex Flower among those missing, debutants Sam Ball and Andy Ford added power to the pack.

Flanker Rich Clive was pressed into 80 minutes on the wing.

Despite warnings that Dunlop played a fast-paced game, Upton could not stop the rampaging Coventry side.

After ten minutes, Dunlop went 14-0 ahead after two quick breakaways, despite Upton bossing possession.

This was stretched to 19-0 from a five-metre scrum but slowly Upton hit back.

Stu Brooks burrowed over after Clive was held up, before Will Miekle finished off quick passing from Ali Hills and Dan Keyte, with Dan Hart converting both.

But Upton conceded a fourth try straight from kick-off to make the half-time score 26-14.

Dunlop’s pace around the fringes helped put the game beyond doubt with a fifth try on 60 minutes.

Upton’s Martin Muleko finished well on the right wing to make it 33-19 but the tiring side lost captain Max Macfarlane to the sin-bin for a dangerous tackle.

Dunlop ran in three 50-metre converted tries to make the scoreline more flattering.

Meanwhile, Bromyard scored eight tries for the second week running as they beat Yardley and District 48-24 in Midlands Four West (North).

Rob Legge and John Parker tries sandwiched a Yardley effort before man-of-the-match John Pudge crossed the line and Chris Rowberry converted. Legge powered over for his second and Parker did likewise after half-time.

Despite a Yardley reply, Steve Barrett set up hooker Joe Williams and also converted.

Pudge created Parker’s hat-trick clincher and a Tom Morris try, converted by Toby Rivers, secured the win.
