Trio to join Warriors for next season

Malvern Gazette: Trio to join Warriors for next season Trio to join Warriors for next season

WORCESTER Warriors' squad building for next season continues apace with the addition of three more players.

Ulster Rugby's Niall Annett will join the Sixways club from the summer, along with Rotherham Titans duo Ben Sowrey and Dan Sanderson.

Hooker Annett is regarded as one of Ireland's brightest prospects, while Sowrey and Sanderson, whose move was revealed in the Worcester News on Monday, have been instrumental in helping Rotherham in their Championship campaign.

Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan said: "I am delighted that one of the best young forwards in Ireland has decided to join us alongside two of the brightest talents in the Championship.

"Niall has developed well at one of the strongest teams in the PRO12, while Dan and Ben have been key performers for a club which is battling to win the Championship title.”

Six-foot-eight lock Sanderson moved to Moseley in 2011 before joining Rotherham a year later and has gone on to make 45 appearances for his current club.

Sowrey, another hooker, joined Rotherham at the start of this season and has gone on to make 18 appearances.

Meanwhile, fly-half Danny Gray has left the club by mutual consent.

So did David Strettle who is one of the top try scorers in the league every year. Plenty of good players in the championship.

We're bottom of the Premiership. To get to the top you need top players, but top players won't sign for a team at the bottom of the league - Catch 22.

The plan is to build our own players, then if/when you climb the league (not this year or next) you can attract better players.

We should build a team with a team ethos, this for me is what has always been missing, their have been lots of rumours of cliques over the years, we should aim to emulate what Exeter did, they didn't have any massive names, but had a great team spirit.

I think they are ding the right thing

Ryan has made 12 signings for next season, so far: 4 from the Championship and 8 from Prem or Rabo.

I saw the highlights of that game, One or Two.

Agreed, Sanderson did play well, as did Charlie Mulchrone, the 9 we have signed from them as well.
