Awesome foursome of success for young aces
12:20pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in Rugby
MALVERN RFC under 17s extended their winning league run to four games as they beat a well organised Bromsgrove team 37-13.
But two Jack Travis penalties answered a brace from Bromsgrove to leave the half-time score at 6-6.
However, a yellow card for the Bromsgrove scrumhalf just before the break gave Malvern a numerical advantage at the start of the second period, which they exploited with two scores.
Firstly, debutant Jack Hitchins went over from close range and Jack Travis made it 13-6 with a splendid conversion from the touchline.
Then as Malvern began to turn the screw, Marcello Cossali-Francis added a second try.
Bromsgrove replied with a try after a home scrum went wrong on their own 22, to reduce the deficit to 18-13.
Malvern dominated the final quarter and two quick tries from Nathan Beasley Suffolk and Will Carter, one converted by Travis, ensured the win.
A final piece of brilliance from Hitchins, running from his own half through the entire Bromsgrove defence, sealed the points.
