Somerset moved to the top of the Specsavers County Championship with a six-wicket win over Nottinghamshire at Taunton, where Australian Matt Renshaw made another half-century.

The 22-year-old continued his impressive form this summer with 61 as Somerset chased down the victory target of 248 for a third Division One win in five matches, claiming 22 points.

George Bartlett made 43, while Tom Abell (46) and Steve Davies (44) were both unbeaten just short of half-centuries. Notts off-spinner Matt Carter returned three second-innings wickets for match figures of eight for 95.

Earlier, Somerset seamer Josh Davey had completed his best Championship figures of four for 76 as Notts were finally bowled out for 505, following on, from an overnight 468 for eight.

At Edgbaston, Ian Bell completed two unbeaten centuries in a match as Warwickshire cemented
their place at the top of Division Two with a four-wicket win over Glamorgan.

Bell followed his first innings 106 not out with an unbeaten 115, from 164 deliveries with 17 fours, to take his side to their target of 294 with 20 overs to spare.

Jonathan Trott offered support with 67 and Will Rhodes made 61 as Glamorgan ended up comfortably beaten.

For Warwickshire, though, it was a fourth successive victory which sends them in confident mood heading into the showdown against challengers Kent at Tunbridge Wells.

At Emirates Riverside, Chris Rushworth took five wickets as Durham completed an improbable comeback against Derbyshire with a 95-run victory.

Rushworth finished with figures of five for 47 and Matt Salisbury took four for 69 to dismiss Derbyshire, resuming on 69 for four in pursuit of 268, for 172.

It was a brilliant comeback from the hosts, who looked down and out after their first innings when they were bowled out for 96.

Derbyshire appeared to be within sight of victory on day two when they had Durham six down, with a lead of only 46.

However, an inspired effort from Gareth Harte turned the course of the game as he notched his maiden first-class century.

Derbyshire were unable to respond as Rushworth, along with the rest of the Durham pace attack, were able to wrap up the victory and claim their second win of the season.

Gloucestershire, meanwhile, salvaged a draw with a gritty rearguard effort from Graeme van Buuren and Kieran Noema-Barnett to thwart Kent’s quest for a fourth straight win.

Teetering on 219 for six after following on, and forced to contend with the new ball, the hosts were looking at defeat going into the final session.

But just as Gloucestershire did during a stand of 104 in the first innings, the seventh-wicket pair served up defiance aplenty in a partnership that was worth exactly 100 when Van Buuren fell to Daniel Bell-Drummond in the early-evening gloom.

Noema-Barnett (42 not out) and Craig Miles (two not out) saw it through to the end with the home side on 322 for seven in their second innings.
