The Boston Celtics won the battle of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference to move to within two games of leaders the Toronto Raptors.

Marcus Morris scored 25 points and had nine rebounds as the Celtics overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat their rivals 110-99.

Jayson Tatum contributed 24 points and Terry Rozier chipped in with 21 to hand Boston their sixth successive win and keep them in contention for the top seed in the East ahead of the final meeting between the teams on Wednesday in Toronto.

Pacific Division winners the Golden State Warriors were 112-96 winners against the Sacramento Kings but the result was overshadowed by an injury to Patrick McCaw.

The second-year guard left the game on a stretcher in the third quarter with his neck in a brace after landing awkwardly in the act of scoring following contact from Vince Carter.

Already without Stephen Curry and other key personnel, the Warriors dug deep to end their three-game losing streak, thanks in the main to Kevin Durant’s 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Elsewhere in the NBA on Saturday, the Washington Wizards defeated the Charlotte Hornets 107-93 and the Detroit Pistons secured a 115-109 victory over the New York Knicks.

The Brooklyn Nets overcame a slow start to edge the Miami Heat 110-109 after overtime.
