Two late goals sinks Reserves

MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 2, BILBROOK 3

MALVERN Town could have and should have won this game against average opposition and actually led twice before conceding two late goals, and at the same time three West Midland Division One points.

Dale Humphries, who improves with every game, was involved in the opening goal as he crossed into the visitors six-yard box where Richard Smith handled the ball allowing Ollie Endacott to blast home the resultant penalty.

The lead was short-lived, as straight from the kick-off, Bilbrook pressed down the right wing winning a free-kick 35 yards out. Carl Cooper crossed the ball and skipper Chris Beech rose and headed it over keeper Tom Shepherd.

Ten minutes into the second-half, James Gifford chased a ball across the edge of the box and laid it back to Matt Ireson who picked out Joe Leighton at the far post, but he was disappointed to see the ball skim the outside of the crossbar.

Youth player Tom Poole, who had a good all round game, chested the ball towards the bye-line and crossed into the 18-yard box but unfortunately put the ball just behind two attacking players and Bilbrook cleared the danger.

Ollie Endacott showed a turn of speed, beating the right-back and crossed for Poole who mis-kicked, but in doing so, set the ball up for Humphries who came bursting through and hammered home from three yards out.

Malvern should have been able to hold onto their lead but allowed Bilbrook to equalise on 82 minutes. With their tails up Bilbrook pressed and hit the upright with one effort and then forced a corner shortly afterwards. As the ball was played into Town's 18-yard box, Michael Cole was bundled over and handled the ball at the same time. Graham Swan gave Shepherd no chance with the penalty and the visitors left delighted with their victory.
