New faces boost Town

MALVERN Town will be staring relegation in the face if they don't start picking up points, according to manager Paul Molloy.

Town looked to have got back on track following an 11-0 drubbing at Chesham United last month by taking four points from their next two games.

However, they let a two-goal lead slip to lose 4-2 at Dunstable on Saturday and were beaten 3-1 at Aylesbury on Monday.

This Saturday, they host Bishops Cleeve (3pm) for their first Southern League Division One Midlands match at the Langlands Stadium since November 17.

Malvern are currently four points above basement side Berkhamsted Town but, with only one side likely to be relegated, have played four more games.

The manager said: "We have got to start picking up some points now otherwise we are going to be facing relegation.

"Fortunately only one goes down in our league and we have just got to make sure it's not us."

Warren Howes, a 19-year-old centre-half who was with Brentford last season, will make his debut for Malvern and midfielder Gary Walker should remain on loan from Worcester City.

Walker scored in the Aylesbury defeat, which also saw the referee reverse a decision to award Malvern a penalty and Molloy claim two of the hosts' goals were offside.

The manager said: "When you are down at the bottom those things don't go for you. It sounds like sour grapes but it's the truth.

"We are playing a lot better than a month ago and we have brought a few new faces in.

"Since the Chesham defeat we have played really well. We did well at Bedworth and we did enough to win at Dunstable but unfortunately didn't get the result."
