Town ready for Trophy

MALVERN Town manager Paul Molloy believes his team is capable of victory in the FA Trophy tomorrow (Saturday), despite their disappointing start to the season.

The Langland Stadium side are bottom of Southern League Division One Midlands, taking just one point from their first eight games after losing 2-0 at home to now league leaders Leamington on Tuesday evening.

But they can put that to one side tomorrow when Didcot Town, third in Division One South and West, are the visitors in the FA Trophy preliminary round (3pm).

Molloy said: "It's going to be a tough game but we have had them watched and they are beatable so hopefully we can get the right result."

However, the manager knows his players will have to start taking their chances if they are to progress against the Oxfordshire side.

"It's the same scenario as last year," he said. "We are creating chances but we don't have an out and out goalscorer to put them in. We are looking for one but on our budget we can't afford to buy one."

He added: "I would rather be playing in the league and trying to get some points on the board."
