Scoreless game still entertaining
UPTON II 0, ROSS 0
ON a heavy pitch Upton Seconds entertained Ross and although there was no score it was an entertaing game.
Upton appeared to have got their earlier performances out of their system, and played with passion and heart, against a strong Ross side.
Due to conditions it was an error strewn game with penalties making up a large part of the match, with Upton conceding a large number for offside at the rucks and mauls.
It was good to see Adam Brakewell back in Upton colours and playing with his usual verve. Although Upton were suffering from the loss of a few key players, they have more than made up for it with the recruiment of a number of young, speedy and skillful backs, who played their part in preventing the try line from being crossed.
Ross were frustrated on a number of occasions, when having worked their own threequarters into try scoring positions, they found themselves being caught up from behind.
Although Upton continued to concede penalties, they were fortunate that Ross failed to convert any of the three kickable ones.
This resulted in one of the few 0-0 draws witnessed on a rugby pitch but it was a truly entertaining game to watch, with both teams trying hard to score.
