Warrior school for Upton juniors

FORTY young rugby players braved the first serious chill of the winter at Upton Rugby Club to be put through their paces by Worcester Warriors front row Star Lee Fortey.

Lee joined Tom Ryder, Steve Joslin and Simon Lane from the Worcester Warriors community coaching team to give a Premiership player's view on a number of vital core skills needed by every player today.

There was a lot of emphasis on fun and enjoyment as the coaching team ran through a varied set of drills and practices with the young players made up from Upton's own junior section and two guest squads from Malvern.

The 90-minute session concluded with a light-hearted question and answer session which put Lee Fortey on the spot to describe the best and worst of his playing career.

Upton's U13s coach Simon Lee summed up the evening: "It's great for our young players to be able to get such quality coaching at their own club, and I know that all of us - players and coaches alike have got a lot out of the evening."

Anyone interested in joining Upton RFC Juniors is welcome to attend the club on a Sunday morning, or call 01886 832843.
