BLACKPOLE SAINTS U11s 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U11s 1.

NEWTOWN played in their first cup final, the Philip Jeynes Memorial, on Sunday and ran out deserved winners.

Newtown started the game strongly and settled much better than their opponents and put the Saints' goal under pressure going close on a number of occasions.

Juniors' had a call for a penalty turned down when Sam Daffin appeared to be pushed in the area.

With Shane Abel, Ashley Hill and Ben Kite dominating the midfield it was only a matter of time before Newtown scored.

The goal came on 20 minutes when from a Daffin cross from the right was headed in by Ashley Hill, who made no mistake from six yards.

The second-half was a repeat of the first with Newtown in complete control, with George Theakston and Ross Mulka giving the Saints forwards no change and keeper Joe Crews being a spectator for much of the game, yet again keeping a clean sheet.

James Bannister went close when he hit the crossbar with a fierce shot. Sam Wallace came off the bench to sew things up at the back.

This was a good team performance from Newtown and kept up their unbeaten tag for the season.

Newtown play Leigh and Bransford Wanderers away tomorrow in the league.

BROMSBERROW UNITED U11s 2, WESTFIELDS U11s 1.

BROMSBERROW finished their season on a high with a Ben Miller brace during a fine second-half display.

The first-half lived up to everyone's expectations with both sides playing some attractive football without managing to get the vital first goal.

The second-half continued in the same vein. However, midway through the half the away side took the lead with a lovely shot which went into the top corner of the net from 20 yards out. This spurred Bromsberrow on and five minutes later they equalised when a George Davies throw found Ben Miller who turned his marker and then had a low shot which took a deflection on its way into the net.

Four minutes from time, Harry Williams was brought down on the edge of the box and from the free-kick Ben Miller powerfully rifled home into the bottom corner.

This proved to be the winning goal in a pulsating end to end game to finish a great league season having played 20 games, won 18, drawn one and lost only one.

BROMYARD U10s 0, LEDBURY SWIFTS U10s 11.

LEDBURY Swifts clinched the league A title last Saturday with a convincing win against Bromyard and now face a two legged home and away play-off against league B winners Bartestree to decide the eventual champions.

Hat-tricks from Lewis Hammond, Dan Batty and Jake Robson and a goal apiece for Harvey Moss and Mikey Gooch sealed the win for Ledbury against a battling Bromyard team.

LADS CLUB VIXENS U12s GIRLS 7, LEDBURY SWIFTS U12s GIRLS 0.

LEDBURY Swifts played two league games in three days for which they travelled to Hereford for the first game.

Swifts knew this was going to be a tough game against top of the table Vixens. It was a very much even game from the whistle with both sides missing chances. However it was Vixens that had the lead at half-time going 2-0 up.

At the start of the second-half Vixens increased their lead further. Ledbury did have chances with through ball from Lucy Boswell to Bethany Allcock, who hit the post with a spectacular strike. Vixens had the game well within their control and went on to score further goals.

ROSS ROCKETS GIRLS U12s 2, LEDBURY SWIFTS GIRLS U12s 3.

FOR the first 20 minutes it was very much end-to-end with both teams having chances. It was shortly before half-time that Swifts took the lead with a Lucy Boswell throw-in deflected off a Ross player.

Midway through the second-half, Swifts increased their lead with Kerry Matthews scoring.

But Ross levelled within minutes. This seemed to stir Swifts forward and their pressure paid off with a throw-in by Yasmin Simpkin to Ruby Kwong to score for Swifts and earn a well-deserved win.

LEDBURY SWIFTS GIRLS U14s 6, WESTFIELD GIRLS U14s 1.

LEDBURY Swifts Girls progressed to their second cup final of the season with a 6-1 win against Westfields Girls in the under-14 girls' cup semi-final.

Five goals from Abi Hemmings and a goal by Kayleigh Drummond, with only one goal in reply, was enough to take Ledbury through to the final.

On Sunday Ledbury Swifts Girls travel to Bath to represent Herefordshire in the Tesco Cup competing against teams from Somerset, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Devon, with the eventual winners representing the South of England at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium in the national finals.

LEIGH AND BRANSFORD BADGERS U16s 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS U16s 5.

NEWTOWN produced a sparkling performance to defeat rivals Leigh and Bransford Badgers by five clear goals with Aaron Griffiths notching a super hat-trick.

Newtown started the brighter and had the Badgers defence back-pedalling but Turner saw his neat clip just clear the bar.

Newtown then suffered a blow when Roskams limped out the fray but his replacement Christopher Freeman produced an outstanding performance in centre-midfield. Superb work all over the park saw Griffiths take advantage of the space provided to slot neatly into the bottom corner.

Newtown's Mallett and Bannister then set Griffiths on a race down the wing and he pinged in a cross that deceived everyone and flew into the top corner.

Turner then reacted brilliantly to turn in Morton's cross and then put his side three up at the break.

Mallett's corner fell to Kyte, the big defender showed great skill and panache to control, swivel and then unleash a superb shot into the back of the net.

The match closed with Griffiths gleefully accepted the opportunity to notch a hat-trick by racing onto a through ball to knock the ball passed the advancing keeper to put an emphatic edge on the scoreline.

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U10s 4, OLDBURY PARK GOLDS U10s 3.

THE champions entertained Golds in a lively encounter at Lower Howsell on Saturday.

Golds started the game strongly and took the lead early on, but the Colts struck straight back and equalised through Anthony Eyles.

Golds continued to take the game to the Colts and deservedly took a 3-1 lead.

Colts got themselves back into the game just before half-time when Ross Philpotts pounced on a loose ball in the box.

The second-half saw a more determined Colts team come out and they levelled the scores through Fraser Crump's neat finish from a tight angle.

Colts continued to push forward looking for the winner, and were rewarded late on when Alex Doyle got on to the end of a Ben Jackson cross.
