Round-up
Rivals enjoy a soggy warm-up to campaign
LEDBURY XI v
CANON FROME II.
A MIXTURE of Ledburys first and second team players enjoyed a good warm-up for this weekends league action with a convincing win against a spirited Canon Frome IIs.
Asked to bat first on a damp wicket, Ledbury lost Yeoman cheaply, but Pritchard (57) and Ehrlich (44) added 98 for the second wicket in quick time to lay a platform for a big Ledbury innings. Pritchard was the more fluent and looked in good touch with a flurry of boundaries.
Both fell within a short space of each other and it was left to James Brighton to see Ledbury to a good total. He was typically watchful at first but then exploded into form hitting three huge sixes along the way to making 67 not out.
He received good support from both Hathaway and Bettington.
Ledbury amassed 223 on a difficult wicket for the loss of four wickets.
In reply Canon Frome struggled as the drying wicket made batting even more difficult. None of the batsmen settled as Baxter (two wickets), young Jason Belcher (three) wickets and Richard Davies (three wickets) ripped the heart out of their batting, before Steve Large wrapped things up for Ledbury.
Canon Frome first eleven players took advantage and had a bat against the Ledbury attack thus ensuring both sides had a good work-out ahead of their league seasons.
Ledburys first XI open their division one campaign tomorrow against Crickhowell, whilst the Seconds entertain Crickhowells seconds in the reverse fixture.
