A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a man on a Worcestershire common.

Police were called after a man died and a woman was seriously injured following an incident at Hartlebury Common near Stourport on Friday.

The incident happened in a car park off the B4193 Hartlebury Road at about 5.30pm.

Ambulances were called to the scene where medics discovered the man who had suffered “very serious injuries.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A woman had suffered serious injuries. Her condition was stabilised at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

He added the woman’s injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Police have now arrested seven people in connection with the incident and are assisting police with their enquiries. A post mortem was expected to take place later today.
