West Malvern romp to first win of the season

WEST MALVERN 7, PERSHORE MANOR 2 WEST Malvern recorded their first win of the Worcester Saturday League season with a convincing 7-2 victory over Pershore Manor.

The game opened brightly and West Malvern were in front after 10 minutes when Miles Meager drove the ball home from 15 yards.

They continued to apply pressure and Anthony Holder ran onto a through ball to score with ease. After 35 minutes they went three up when Holder again scored from 30 yards.

The second-half continued in similar fashion to the first with West Malvern doing most of the attacking. Holder completed his hat-trick with a lob from 20 yards.

From then on, Tim Lambert took over and scored the first of his three goals when he rounded the full-back and drove the ball home from a tight angle.

Pershore fought back strongly and finally scored when their centre-back headed home from a corner.

But still West Malvern went forward and Lambert scored his second goal and, with five minutes to go, Lambert completed his hat-trick. Pershore were not to be outdone and came back to score a consolation goal.

Overall, West Malvern gave a much-improved performance and got their reward from some good play.
