Spencer on form to give Callow End late victory
HALLOW VILLAGE 0,
CALLOW END 1
CALLOW End travelled to Worcester and District League Division One basement side Hallow and came up against a resilient defence prepared to soak up pressure and counterattack.
The visitors nearly conceded on 35 minutes but Dave Gray's outstretched leg stopped what looked a certain goal.
The second-half was just the same as Callow End's frustration grew with several missed opportunities.
Callow End opted to go three at the back on 75 minutes and almost went behind straight away.
However, four minutes later, club captain Adam Spencer gave Callow End the lead and what proved to be the winner with a looping header.
The man-of-the-match was Graham Crowe, but Sam Black looked sharp and Thomas Crump distributed the ball well with Spencer covering every blade of grass for the cause.
Callow End are at home to current table-toppers The Bridge on Sunday and travel to Colwall St James the following week.
Callow End's WFA Sunday Junior Cup final will be played at 6pm on Sunday, April 20 against Victoria Barnt Green at Bromsgrove Rovers FC.
