Upton see off league leaders
UPTON TOWN 1, WORCESTER YMCA 0
UPTON Town hosted Worcester and District Premier Division leaders Worcester YMCA on Saturday.
YMCA made the early running but were unable to find gaps in a well organised defence marshalled by Adam Spencer. Mark Amott cleared a header off the line midway through the first half from a corner and Spencer also had to clear off the line after keeper Scrivener was beaten.
Town took a shock lead 10 minutes before half-time when Spencer poked the ball over the line from close range following a mix-up from a corner.
Town continued to battle hard in the second-half and Danny White almost opened his account, inches away from making contact from a Smith free-kick which came to him just three yards out. YMCA's chances were few and far between and they didn't manage anything worthwhile on goal in the second half.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Upton Town host Grosvenor Sports in the Martley Cup.
