Reserves hold out for victory
MALVERN TOWN RES 2, STAFFORD TOWN 1
MALVERN Town Reserves recorded a superb win against a side which not only sits second in the league, but have matched or bettered Malvern on every meeting between the sides in the past four years.
All of the scoring came in the first-half and all three goals were scored by Town players.
The first came after 25 seconds when Anthony Burton slipped the ball into the path of James Argent who raced through and fired across the keeper.
Malvern dominated the first-half and on 21 minutes Rob Cullen made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after Craig Selby's flick was stopped by the arm of a defender.
Despite being in the driving seat, Malvern conceded a corner and Joe Leighton managed to head past his own keeper from Carl Harris's delivery.
Ten minutes later, man-of-the-match Leighton redeemed himself by clearing the ball as Stafford looked to equalise.
Stafford laid siege to Malvern's goal after the break but Wright, Skyers, Leighton, Thomas and Cole kept them out.
