MALVERN Town are aiming to finish their season by breaking into the West Midlands League Premier Division top-10.

The Langland Stadium side set themselves that target before the start of the campaign and victories from their final two fixtures would keep the dream alive.

Malvern, currently 13th in the table, visit AFC Wulfrunians tomorrow (3pm) before travelling to Darlaston on Thursday (7.45pm) for a match rearranged following a postponement last Tuesday due to a waterlogged pitch.

Although they would need other teams to drop points — Shawbury United and Goodrich have games in hand — a six-point haul would give Town a chance of forcing themselves into the top-10 bracket.

Manager Les Jones, whose side hammered Stafford Town 5-0 at home last Saturday, said: “We are hoping that if we can pick up six points we can get ourselves in the top 10.

“That would take us above ninthplaced Wellington as they have finished their games.

“That would be a marker for us because they are an established side in the league.

“It will be a really tough game (at AFC Wulfrunians), we lost 4-2 at home to them (in October), but if we can win there and at Darlaston, we would be absolutely delighted with what we have achieved.”

Jones has also been pleased with the way his players have adapted to the Premier Division as most made the switch with him from Malvern Rangers last summer following their capture of the Division Two championship.

He said: “As a group, it’s the first time they have played a full season at this level.

“It’s been a learning curve but we would have done really well if we can finish above halfway, that’s a major achievement for a first season.”

However, Town have a host of absentees tomorrow.

Midfielder Mason Mansfield (toe), forward Craig Carter (hamstring), centre-half Joe Endacott (leg) and right sided player Rob Cullen (calf) are all missing.

But Ollie Endacott is back from holiday and strike partner Ed Lyons is also available once more following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
