MALVERN-based junior player Simon Wikeley has earned a place on the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) AEGON FutureStars Programme after a successful year on court.
The 11-year-old, who trains at Manor Park, is one of 426 youngsters selected for the programme which recognises and supports some of the best juniors in the country based on the individual player’s talent ID assessment and ranking for all other age groups.
Wikeley, who was chosen as part of the 2010 intake of players, will join top juniors from around the country who all receive varying levels of funding and support from the LTA.
Greg Rusedski, talent ambassador for the LTA, said: “Simon is one of the most talented youngsters in the country and I look forward to seeing him progress.”
