INJURY-plagued Malvern RFC have been forced to rue their bad luck following their latest defeat on Saturday, according to frustrated director of rugby Dave Robins.

The Spring Lane side travel to Hinckly tomorrow with a far from clean bill of health and rocked by a 56-10 defeat at the hands of Broad Street on Saturday.

But the game will now have to be replayed due to the injuries Malvern suffered to their front row during a heated contest, which saw Simon Daws sent off after just ten minutes.

Robins said: “When you then look at the injuries we have picked up over the last few weeks, it seems that we are having no luck at all.

“Despite that, the lads are still showing good spirit and are turning up with the right attitude at training.

“For such a young squad they are showing increasing maturity week on week and we must keep faith in them.”

Robins also questioned using “inexperienced” referees for certain matches in Midlands One.

He said: “Unfortunately, the game is now seeing some inexperienced referees, who haven’t themselves played at particularly high levels, being fast-tracked through the system.

“They often aren’t able to distinguish between some of the more technical areas at the ruck, which I feel is what caused the problem on Saturday.” First-team squad v Hinckley (away-ko 2.15pm-meet at Spring Lane at 11.15am and the Ketch Hotel, Worcester, at 11.30am, number one dress code, navy blue shorts and socks, from: D Chesham, M Humphreys, T Drew, G Taylor, D Smith, S Clark, S Daws, A Ruddock, J Gwynne, C Pimlow, R Henshaw, R Fleming, R Watkins (c), T Beechey, C Hooper.
