TERRY Jenkins grabbed his first title for 18 months to win the John McEvoy Gold Dart Classic Players Championship in Killarney.

The world number five beat Andy Jenkins in a strong display at Ireland’s National Event Centre.

He lost just one set throughout Monday’s play, this was in his opening game against Arthur O’Brien, and then saw off Stephen O’Connor, Brian Doheny, Steve Maish and Felix McBrearty to reach the semi-finals.

Jenkins then whitewashed Kirk Shepherd in the last four before repeating that scoreline against Portsmouth ace Andy Jenkins in the decider to claim the £5,000 cheque.

But The Bull crashed out of the PartyPoker.net European Championship, losing 7-5 to Spainish newcomer Carlos Rodriquez in Germany last Thursday.

Jenkins lost out 6-4 after a thrilling tie-break in the match after he had been 2-0 and 4-2 down. Seventh seed Jenkins has been drawn against Wes Newton, who won the ITV Wildcard Qualifier last month, Colin Lloyd and Darin Young in this year’s £356,000 PartyPoker.com Grand Slam.

The tournament begins on Saturday, November 15, and runs until November 23 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
