German test is next for Jenkins

LEDBURY’S Terry Jenkins begins his European Championship campaign tonight against Spaniard Carlos Rodriguez in Frankfurt.

A victory would book fifth-seed Jenkins a clash with Ronnie Baxter or Vincent van der Voort in the second round on Saturday.

The competition is being screened live on ITV4.

Last weekend, Jenkins lost in the second round of the PartyPoker.net German Darts Trophy 3-2 to Steve Maish after defeating Sladan Nedic 3-0 at the first stage.

Maish edged the five-set thriller, coming from two sets down to claim victory in the deciding leg.

Jenkins missed one dart for victory in set four. Rodriguez made the final but lost 3-2 to Colin Osborne who claimed his first Players’ Championship title of 2008.
