MALVERN Town Reserves travelled to Blackheath on Saturday and lost 4-3.

The first goal came on 14 minutes when the normally reliable Paul Edwards completely missed the ball as it was thrown into Town's box and Martin Macdonald picked his spot, firing home for the opening goal.

Edwards then lost the ball in midfield and the Black-heath winger crossed for home skipper Mark Wood-hall and he met the ball on the volley to give Nial Hacking no chance with the second goal.

Malvern's Oliver Reid had a shot on target, before the ball was played to Scott Wilkinson and he curled in a superb shot from the edge of the box for Blackheath's third.

Malvern changed their formation at half-time, adding an extra player up front. This paid dividends straight away as Andy Fletcher connected with a Rob Cullen throw-in and, despite the close attention of two defenders, Fletcher headed home on 50 minutes.

Further pressure saw Mike Cole pick out Craig Selby with a good delivery but the forward headed wide.

It was then Blackheath's turn to attack down the left and Woodhall was well placed to score his second and Blackheath's fourth.

Just as Malvern appeared dead and buried, Fletcher delivered a cross-field ball for Selby, which the home keeper misjudged and Selby side-footed home to give Town some hope.

Things got better on 80 minutes when Cullen went on a mazy run before squaring the ball for young Jamie Parkes to fire home from eight yards.

Blackheath then slowed the game down and held on for three points.
