THE Worcestershire bounced back after last year’s away whitewash with a 7½-2½ home win over Burghill.

Of the seven wins recorded three pairs followed up with the best scores in the closed mixed greensome.

Geraldine and John Williams repeated their success from last year with 38 points.

Liz Pool and Peter Hill were second with 37 ahead of Jill and Brian Piner on 36.

The B team travelled to Evesham and despite big wins for John Williams and Dave Turner and Tom Wood and Tom Howells lost 4-2.

Ursula Pearson was three clear in the ladies’ stableford with 36 points.

Pat Rose had 33 and Jen Bishop finished third in Division One with 31.

In Division Two, Ruth Scott won with 35 from Janet Manning-Cox with 33 and Sandra Schofield with 31.

Marie Willis won the ladies’ nine-hole stableford with 16 points.

David Fraser carded four birdies for a gross 76 nett 65 to win the spring meeting and reduce his handicap to nine. Phil Shurmer was runner-up in Division One with nett 67 and Christopher Goodrum third with 68.

Jon Whitehead won Division Two with 68 and Nigel Teal topped Division Three with 69.

The Worcestershire’s men welcomed eight ladies representing the county team for close matches.

Club captain Peter Basten and Andy Longley succumbed 3&2 to county captain Sarah Nicklin and Karen Greenfield.

Tom Deehan and Tim Wright edged out Ciara Kelly and Ellie Lawrence two-up while Tom Davies and Andy Dunster and Mark Read and Will Jones inflicted 3&2 wins over Anna Rock and Laura Yapp and Lesley Fox and Diane Meakin respectively.
