THE winter league championship finale day involving Bransford at The Staffordshire was won by Wharton Park from Bewdley with 359 points.

Little Lakes had won the league in the final fixture at Wharton Park.

In a stableford team and individual event involving 48 players, putting was difficult due to green problems and scoring was steady.

The Staffordshire were second on 349 and Bransford third with 332 just two ahead of Little Lakes.

Leading the way on the day was the hosts’ Paul Screen (13) with 38 while Bransford’s Spencer (19) and Graham Wilks (17) had 35 and 34 respectively.

Dave Miller (17) scored 24, Andy Falconer (26) 19, Rob Blake (15) 27, Trevor Atkinson (14) 30, Lee Dyment (19) 22, Weaver (20) 31, John Phillips (20) 27, Dave Lindsay (21) 25, Rebbeck (13) 27 and Alan Wallcroft (23) 31.

Bransford seniors’ summer stableford league first round was played in summery conditions.

Top score of the day went to Roy Burston (12 handicap) in Division One with 37 points.

Gerry Rebbeck (13) got 36 and on 35 were Keith Edgell (17), Neil Holbrow (12) and Mark Heason (13).

Phil Spencer (18) racked up 33 while Alan Ford (12) had 32.

Division Two’s top spot was claimed by Mike Weaver (20) on 36 with Brian Taylor (24) and Roy Williams (22) on 33.

Martin Linley (21) got 32 and Andrew Jarvis (23), Tony Bowman (21) and Bill Bowen (20) 31.

Leading the way in Division Three was Jeff Carlisle (28) whose 33 was two better than Gerry McCurry (27).

Charlie Hawkridge (25) managed 30, Andy Falconer (26) and Brian Curnock (28) 29 and Roger Steade (28) and Ron Perkins (28) 27.

Barbara Ramsden (13) returned after illness and showed she had not lost her touch in winning the ladies’ April stableford.

She won by a six-point margin on 31 with Abi Nixon (30) runner-up and Pauline Wetton (28) third on 23.
