EMILY Lewis stormed the National Kayaking Championships to earn World Cup Series senior selection.

The Worcester Canoe Club ace raced at the National Watersports Centre and won her place for next month in Hungary and Germany.

Malvern’s Lewis, 24, put in a dominant display in Nottingham by winning every event entered and she will paddle for Great Britain in all three world disciplines.

She started with the K4 senior 500-metre race, teaming up with Hannah Brown, Deborah Kerr and Amy Turner to win in one minute 41.10 seconds.

Lewis then partnered Kerr in the K2 senior open 500m where they triumphed by more than 2.8 seconds.

The duo combined again in the 200m final, winning by almost two seconds.

Lewis aims to gain more international racing experience and also claim a place at August’s Senior World Championships where she would look to build on last year’s ninth spot and push into the medals.

She said: “We’ve been working hard all winter with a big emphasis on the crew boats and we’re hoping to make big improvements.

"It’s now the exciting yet nerve-racking time to take this abroad and see where we are at.”
