COLWALL and Malvern Hockey Club held their annual end-of-season presentation.

Accolades were given to all age groups alongside the first Margaret Rist Award for best home-grown talent.

Rist played for Colwall from the late 1940s until 1963 when she became a vice-president.

After her death in 2005, the club were left a legacy and set up their now thriving junior development section.

The award winner Abigael Palmer, having represented the club at under 14s level, is now a key member of the second XI.

Colwall and Malvern's mixed junior section has about 120 members from under eights to 14s with players filtering into the women's section as they turn 13.

Their senior teams have had a varied season with the first XI rallying to fourth place in West Clubs Women's League Severn Division Two and the second XI looking set for their best points total for many seasons in Division Three.

The Club Award was jointly awarded to Brian Richardson and Stuart MacKellar.

The support of Chris Bocking, of Malvern's Buckingham House Dental Practice, has allowed the club to buy goalkeeping kit while A Star Printing sponsor all the training kit.

Colwall and Malvern continue to go from strength to strength and welcome new members, both young and old and of all abilities.

The club want to establish a men’s team and would welcome contact from anyone interested in joining or helping to run it.

Training continues until the end of May and Colwall and Malvern will enter a team into the summer league on Wednesday evenings from June.

Full training will restart in September at Malvern College's artificial pitches.
