TWENTY-seven teams entered The Worcestershire Golf Club’s rescheduled Texas scramble.

Top spot in Malvern Wells went to club captain Peter Basten, Paul Jones, Shaun Porritt and Peter Pearson with 59.5 nett.

Nigel Teale, Andy Longley, Peter Kirton and Tim Wright nudged into second with 59.9.

In third, Roy Cale, Neville Clarke, Colin and Steven Lane returned 60.

Due to course maintenance, only nine holes were available to the ladies.

Marie Willis, Penny Stevenson and Pauline Taylor triumphed with 36 points on countback from Ursula Pearson and Geraldine Williams.

Third place went to Joyce Duncan, Sue Birch and Cathy Harris with 33.

Several from The Worcestershire took part in the first Worcestershire and Herefordshire Ladies County Golf Association fixture of the season at Stourbridge.

Forty-four pairs contested the greensome event where Pauline Belsham teamed up with Diane Meakin to take the gross prize with 23 stableford points.

Meanwhile, Carl Tasker scored 36 points off his 15 handicap to win Alexander Park seniors’ 18-hole stableford near Ledbury.

Terry Thomas was second with 33 off 19 and Alan Shakesheff third with 33 off 17.
