BRANSFORD seniors’ Roger Clark and daughter Denise Codrington won the Erinvale open pairs at the South African course of Erinvale, Somerset West, near Cape Town.

They finished with 44 points in the mixed better-ball stableford.

Clark said the course was excellent with superb views and it was hot in the high 30s.

Bransford seniors’ teams of three played a Florida scramble.

A couple were left short-handed so played as pairs to the Texas Scramble format with their total handicaps divided.

Although the fairways and greens were left quite hard by an overnight frost, the winning team of Phil Spencer (18 handicap), John Knowles (25) and Chris Hall (28) returned a respectable score of 57.3.

Alan Ford (12), Rob Blake (15) and Ron Perkins (28) were runners-up on 58.7.

Keith Leadbetter (13), Rob Wetton (23) and Eve Lynes (27) scored 59, Lee Dyment (19), Mike Weaver (20) and Paul Edlin (24) 61, Martin Murley (19), Rob Lawrence (23) and Pete Harrison (24) 62 and Mark Heason (13), Ann Parry (25) and Cliff Hayes (30) and Dave Parry (17) Di Leadbetter (26) and Jeff Carlisle (28) both 62.3.

Leigh Thomas won the ladies’ February stableford four points ahead of runner-up Jane Smallwood.

Thomas (18) scored 34, Smallwood (26) 30, Ann Hayden (22) 24, Trish Godwin (25) 22 and Pauline Wetton (28) 22.

Meanwhile, Alexander Park's seniors played a team stableford.

Terry Thomas, Julian Smith, Peter Rouse and Des Samuel won with 81 points.

Ray Saunders, Gregory Brunt, Keith Smith and Maurice Embrey were second with 79.

Carl Tasker, Tom Boswell, Ray Ingram and Lenny Andrews followed with 79.
