A SECOND win for Peter Hill and Liz Pool secured victory in The Worcestershire’s winter mixed pairs tankard competition.

Over six pairs events, the duo had two wins, three seconds and a sixth place to finish seven points clear of Paul and Diane Meakin.

A six-under-par score of 42 in the better-ball was three clear of runners-up John and Geraldine Williams.

A birdie at the last from Diane Meakin was enough to secure third, also on 39.

In the ladies’ final 12-hole alliance of the winter, top spot went to Brenda Lowe, Di Keates and Ruth Scott with 45 stableford points.

Second place went to duo Penny Stevenson and Pauline Belsham with Hazel Cartledge, Ursula Pearson and Liz Pool third on 38.

Meanwhile, Alexander Park seniors played a stableford aggregate pairs competition.

Ray Ingram and Roy Caffull won with 57 points to edge out Des Samuel and Gregory Brunt on the same score.

Michael Hawkins and Carl Tasker were third with 55.

A stableford was won by Keith Smith (28 handicap) with 39 points from Tom Boswell (22) on 32 and Andrew Sutton (15) on 30. Smith had his handicap cut to 26.
